There can be a number of issues with the BookTrakr Button. Please scan the sections below for the problem you're experiencing and the steps to take; if you don't find your problem listed here, then email us for assistance at Help@BookTrakr.com.
Previously-installed Button has disappeared from the Browser
If you had previously installed the BookTrakr Button in your browser, but it has disappeared, that may be because the Button was updated by your browser. You can re-enable it who these steps:
Chrome:
- Click on the "Chrome" menu and choose "Preferences".
- Click on "Extensions" in the left-side panel.
- Find the BookTrakr Button in the list of extensions displayed. If you cannot find the Button, go to Step 7.
- Locate a "switch" in the BookTrakr Button box, and if it is slid to the left, click on it to slide it to the right. This should make the BookTrakr Button reappear. If the Button does not reappear or if the slider was already slid to the right, proceed to step 6.
- If the Button displays but there is a red "Errors" button with it, click that button and grant permissions to the Button. The button should reappear in the toolbar. If it does not, then proceed to Step 6.
- Click the "Remove" button to remove the BookTrakr Button.
- Goto https://www.BookTrakr.com/uploads/install to re-install the Button. Don't forget the final step in those instructions (the button there takes you to https://www.BookTrakr.com/uploads/register. The button should re-appear in your toolbar.
Firefox:
- Click on the "Firefox" menu and choose "Preferences".
- Click on "Extensions & Themes" in the left-side panel.
- Find the BookTrakr Button and click on it. If you cannot find the Button, go to Step 6.
- If the phrase "(disabled)" follows the name, then locate a "switch" and click on it to slide it to the right. If the Button does not reappear or if the switch was already slid to the right, proceed to step 5.
- Click on the ellipsis button ("...") and then click on "Remove" when the menu drops down. This will remove the BookTrakr Button.
- Goto https://www.BookTrakr.com/uploads/install to re-install the Button. Don't forget the final step in those instructions (the button there takes you to https://www.BookTrakr.com/uploads/register. The button should re-appear in your toolbar.
Notes:
1) You will likely have to go through the Amazon one-time password verification if you reinstall the Button.
2) If you get the message "This KDP account does not belong to any of your BookTrakr accounts.", then you skipped the second half of step 6 where you register your BookTrakr account with the Button.

Getting message "This KDP account does not belong to any of your BookTrakr accounts." using the Button
When the BookTrakr Button is installed or re-installed, it is necessary to register your BookTrakr account with the Button. Fortunately, this is very easy to do. Just navigate to https://BookTrakr.com/uploads/register and the Button will know about your account. If you have more than one BookTrakr account (and more than one Amazon account), you may need to do this for each of your BookTrakr accounts.
BookTrakr Button navigates to the Amazon sign-out screen and stops
This is an intermittent problem with the Button in Chrome (which means that it doesn't always happen). We have released a possible solution that you should have gotten automatically. See the section titled "Manually Updating the Button in Chrome" for instructions on how to check that it has been updated and to update it yourself (version 0.3.6 has the possible fix for this problem). Manually Updating the Button in Chrome
The BookTrakr Button should normally be updated automatically, but if you don't want to wait for that to happen, follow these steps:
- Right-click the BookTrakr Button in the Chrome Toolbar and choose "Manage Extensions".
- Note the version that is listed (for example, 0.3.5)
- Scroll the window down and click on "View in Chrome Store".
- Compare the version listed in the store with the previously noted version. If they're the same then you are already updated.
- Click the "Remove from Chrome" button.
- Click the "Add to Chrome" button.
- Navigate to https://www.BookTrakr.com/uploads/register to re-register your BookTrakr account with the Button (removing the button makes it "forget" the BookTrakr account).
